ABOUT US
Macy Topp and Jess Pratt decided to venture into a new business in
the haze of the recession hoping to fulfill the American dream of
being self-employed. The result: Pixie Salon was opened in October
of 2009.
After many hours of hard work and years of developing the skills
needed for salon ownership, they were able to find the ideal
location in the Kingfield neighborhood. Together they bring more
than 16
years of hair experience and the dedication of providing a fun and
relaxing atmosphere that brings clients in again and again, as well
as superior services.
We guarantee a pleasant visit and always a good laugh. We
enjoy what we do -- and it shows. So if you are looking for an
uptight, mundane environment -- you’ve come to the wrong place. If
you are pursuit of a neighborhood salon with good times and good
people, and where your true beauty is revealed -- look no further!
You've found Pixie!

Jess Pratt
JESS@PixieSalonMpls.com
Jess fled the
highlands of North Dakota to the big city to attend the
Aveda Institute in 2001. She spent most of her hair career
at the now defunct Frumos Salon and Spa. She dabbled a bit
in everything there…facials, cutting, color, relaxing. After
the new owners took over Frumos, Jess hopped the river to a
new salon in south Minneapolis where she met Macy. After a
weekend in Las Vegas attending the Paul Mitchell Signature
Event – Jess and Macy found they had something in common -
the drive to become self-employed.
Jess is always
looking for new ways to get involved in the community
including Cutting Clinics for the Aliveness Project, shaving
heads for St. Baldricks and participating in Susan G Komen
for the Cure Walk. She is a certified Brocato educator.
Jess can tackle
any head of hair – she does relaxing, cuts, colors and
facial waxing.

Macy Topp
MACY@PixieSalonMpls.com
Macy graduated
from Scot Lewis School of Cosmetology as a second career at
the ripe age of 30. Prior to hair school, she was a devoted
college student of seven years in the studies of studio art
and art history. With that lucrative degree under her belt
she tried her hand in the non-profit sector. Much to her
dismay non-profit was not a profitable career path.
Self-employment
was her next feat….and hair seemed to be the ticket. After
working for several years at other salons in the metro area
and after meeting her future biz partner, Jess Pratt – who
had similar dreams, Macy was ready to open her own salon.
Since then Macy
has kept her skills as a hair stylist by attending the Vidal
Sassoon Academy in Chicago and is a certified educator for Brocato. Always ready for the
next challenge….. Macy’s services include cuts and colors.

Amber Knapper
AMBER@PixieSalonMpls.com
Amber was born
and raised in south Minneapolis. After graduating from South
High, Amber enrolled Mankato Cosmetology Training Center in
2003. Since then she hopped around town to different salons
until 2009 when her life took a new direction and she moved
to Chicago. Just before her departure she met Jess and Macy.
Two years later she made her way back to the Minne-apple and
joined the Pixie Gang. Amber wears many hats both
professionally and personally.
Not only is she
an attentive mother of two she is a certified massage
therapist and esthetician. Hopefully one day when Pixie
expands their services, Amber will be able to use these
skills.
Amber
specializes in cuts, colors, perms, manicures, and facial waxing.
